MISSION FOODS

Mission Foods growth was resulting in escalating costs and loss of productivity at six large manufacturing plants. Utilizing our TekTrak process, we analyzed their equipment fleet, along with all related hardware and software expenses. They had redundant assets, multiple vendors, and multiple decision makers. They needed a collective strategy to increase productivity, lower costs and reduce time spent by IT/Management.

The Brief

Mission Foods was growing quickly with escalating costs and dropping productivity at six large manufacturing plants. They allowed us to analyze their equipment fleet and all related hardware and software. They had redundant assets, multiple vendors, and multiple decision makers across their six facilities. They needed a collective strategy to increase productivity, lower costs and reduce time spent by IT/Management.

THE RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS

Our TekTrak analysis provided Mission Foods with a financial and operational overview for all locations nationwide. Objectives were identified and via an initial walkthrough of their facilities, all assets (hardware & software) that pertain to their document management requirements were identified. Floor plans were created and equipment with usage information was plotted. A financial model was built and validated providing total cost of ownership (TCO).

Via TSG’s proven analysis, TekTrak, we found the following related to Mission Foods Document Management situation:

  • 6,800+ people – Plant staff, IT staff and Admin staff

  • 55 different vendors

  • 43 different contracts

  • 94 different products

  • 60 different supply items

  • Over 1,000 pieces of equipment

  • No data collector or MPS software in use

The Collaboration

We reviewed various solutions with IT and Finance. Each asset was reviewed and an Equipment Disposition was created showing which assets would be leveraged, removed or upgraded. The associated cost/benefits and productivity advantages was evaluated, and a custom managed print services solution was agreed upon.

 THE SOLUTION

TSG eliminated all issues related to IT and Administration Time spent. All equipment lease notifications and requests for new equipment were systemized. Service and supplies for the entire MFP and printer fleet was implemented. Currently, TSG provides a managed print service program for all their printers, MFP’s, scanners and related software and hardware needs for 85+ locations nationwide.

Using Best in Class hardware and software across multiple brands we created a customized solution that was specific to Mission Foods.  We used FMA/Sharp/HP/Zebra/PaperCut.

With the addition of PaperCut Print Management Software, Mission Foods has been able to minimize waste via secure print release and inspect color output at a user level, further reducing costly color output by up to 75% or $270,000 over 5 years.

" With TSG’s assistance we have implemented a MPS program with card swipe security and follow me print. We eliminated all desktop printers in our corporate office and are reducing devices in our plants. This further reduces expenses, allows us to monitor print jobs, reduce color output and create billing charge backs by department. They have been and continue to be a great partner. "
