David J. Akin

President/Partner

David Akin is has more than 35 years of experience in the business technology industry. He is responsible for developing a proprietary process – TekTrak that provides companies with a validated business case to implement effective change and increase bottom line profits.

Dave graduated from San Diego State University and earned a B.S. degree in Geology, and a minor mathematics.

 “It sounds easy 1) lower costs 2) improve performance, but it’s not that simple. Hardware, software, content, and communication workflow is tied together via a wide array of existing processes, across multiple vendors and in various states of evolution. It requires a company with analytical capabilities to help companies understand how micro or macro technology changes will impact their organization and implement the best option(s).

In 1986 Dave began his career at Advanced Image Systems in Glendale, CA. He developed an analytical and transparent sales approach which helped his customers understand their true cost of ownership. Revolutionary at the time, this process quickly earned top sales honors and promotion into management. Over the years he refined and expanded his analytic approach and was promoted to VP of Sales. The industry was going through consistent mergers and acquisitions, and he was tagged and successfully merged, restructured and increased profitability of several technology companies. Internal growth provided larger and more complex opportunities and included everything from hardware to software, workflow to contract analysis.

Dave grew sales transactions laterally and nationally he leveraged his analytical capabilities to propose and validate a wide array of technology hardware and software solutions. In 2006 the time was right, he and his partner, Patricia Roulston decided to start TEAM Solutions Group.

He put his skills, experience, and business philosophy to the ultimate test. He was confident he and his partner, Patricia Roulston, could build a better organization to help companies reduce costs and implement solutions to meet their customers ever-changing technology needs. And that is exactly what they did.

As a team, Dave and Patricia’s strategy proved successful and is still unique in today’s marketplace. The foundation of TSG’s success, is built around a proprietary process called TekTrak. This is operational and financial analysis, which compares the complexities of a company’s existing technology(s) with potential solutions. A validated business case is built to successfully implement change. The result is a business model that includes a validated return on investment, proof of concept, project implementation and ongoing management to ensure a company's objectives and R.O.I. are met as presented. All of  TSG’s customers have been through this process and have experienced the value of this analysis and have implemented solutions.

Personal Life

Dave has always excelled in academics and was an elite athlete; he loves soccer and cycling, and in his youth played competitive soccer and raced. Today, despite four hip surgeries, still an elite biker in his age group and is a huge soccer fan. He is married and resides in the Chicago suburbs. When he is not working on a TekTrak he can be found riding, working on a home project or taking care of his grand son.
